Bonjour Monsieur,

Je suis Chantilly Angevin. I find myself in the Caribbean after a most unfortunate circumstance; suffice it to say that I had never intended to leave my dearest convent in Marseilles, but God has laid a different path for me to walk. Now that I am here in Florida, I intend to make the best of things as a free-trader. I have heard many good things about the Confederacy since my arrival. I find your disdain for the British matches that of my own, and I, being alone here, am in need of comraderie to make my way. Therefore it is with a most humble countenance that I request admittance to your ranks.

May God watch over you,

Chantilly Angevin

OOC: Hello all, I am a 22-year-old woman from Oklahoma City. I come to PotBS from a 2.5 year stint in Guild Wars (since betas) and a brief time spent in Hellgate:London. I am also a console gamer with Halo 3 and Mass Effect presently. I wish to join the Confederacy because I believe playing an MMO should be more than just finding the l33t gear, but having an immersive gaming experience. It is my understanding that the Confederacy, through its role-playing and fun-centric initiatives, will be beneficial to the enjoyment of PotBS. Please forgive my RP-abilities, as although I have been called a decently creative and imaginative writer in the past (and they could very well have been lying to me), I have very limited RP experience previous to this.

Thank you for your consideration.

Lisette smiles in fond rembrance of Chantilly.

((OOC - If our first meeting is any guide, you need not worry about role-playing. You have a fascinating character conception, with a nice touch of mystery we can all guess at, but don't really know. You carry off the persona well in-game. What more could one ask for?

((A ton of historical knowledge really isn't necessary to RP here. After all, how many people during this period had much education at all, not to mention education in history? A noble might be expected to know the history of their family back a few generations, along with local friends and enemies, but would even they live up to expectations?

((Hopefully adding a touch of local color to your gaming will make things more enjoyable, not less. If you find it otherwise, or people hassle you about RPing, please don't hesitate to speak up about it, or at least contact me privately. ))

Ever since he spotted the young woman standing on the wharf in Charlesfort, Bognor has surreptitiously been trying to attract her attention to The Confederacy. Though ever the gentleman, he found something strangely and mystically attractive about the lady.

----------------

OOC:

Actually, I found the name very attractive, and used it as an RP device for my own entertainment. I am not so stupid as to believe that a particular avatar is more attractive than another and certainly not so stupid as to connect anything about the person behind the avatar with the avatar's appearance (or gender).

But the name is beautiful so I reacted as any young man would when [presented with beauty. Any young man of a gentlemanly nature, that is -- call him a traitor if you will, but never a knave. Though Sorcha and her sister have been trying to corrupt him for years...

(Note: Yes, I play a young man. I can do that! I may be old, but my memory is not failed!!!)

Bonjoir Chantilly Angevin,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you as a recruit to The Highland Confederacy. Feel free to explore the many books, pamphlets and articles that are housed here in our library. You are welcome to contribute as you are inclined.

We be a mixed lot of gentle men and gentle ladies, scallywags and ruffians, Scots, Irish, Welsh, Germans, and of course French. It is not the skill of your tongue (though we do love a good conversation) but the bravery of your soul and honesty of your dealings that define you here on the Burning Sea.

Your humble servant,

Captain Jack McBain,
Commodore
The Highland Confederacy

(Great to have you aboard, awitelin. I'll add your name to our ingame roster this morning and see you on the burning sea!)
